It was quiet, still, a frozen moment in time. The jagged rocks cast silent shadows on the serene reflections of the sky.

C&O Canal Nat'l Historical Park and Great Falls Park, Great Falls region, MD, on the borderline with VA.

Climbed down the rocks to get this shot near sunset.

Nikon D90 with 18-55mm Nikkor @ 18mm, f/22, 1 sec, ISO100 with ND8 filter (yeah, the crappy one, shoot me) and Hitech GND 0.6 SE

Really wonderful. I really love the colors. Could you tell me how did you achieve this purple hue in the photograph? Did you use a filter in PS? Which one?
Which other adjustments did you do there?

Most of the purple came just from the vibrant twilight colors, but a cheap ND-filter really brought the colors out. I hadn't expected to use ND-filters, so when I looked around all I had in my bag was a cheapo no-brand filter that I had...the unexpected color cast turned out to really be a plus.

Wonderful, I will have to get a cheap ND filter too. Which strength would you advice me?

Thanks! The softness is caused by DA's compression...the original image is nowhere near as soft. I'll see if I can do anything about it.
